Maybe It’s Just Me…

Maybe it’s just me but this really annoys me.When websites or people in affiliation with a website or person post on the internet and say “Vote for [person/website] for the winner of [this contest]!” In my book, that gets a vote for another website or person. It’s, in a broad sense, fraudulent and skews the results. For example, Orbitcast is doing this (and no, I won’t give them the time of day with a link to their site). The following is said on their website: (click read more)

See, if you could find it in your hearts to nominate Orbitcast for the 2006 Bloggies, I might have a shot at winning that $20.06 and omgomgomg that would like, totally rock.

So seriously, please take a quick minute and head on over to the Bloggies and nominate Orbitcast is you so desire. I’m not sure if this is a “technology” weblog, or a “topical” weblog, or just the “best-kept-secret” weblog – so let’s just play it safe and nominate Orbitcast for as many as your lil’ fingers can handle.

In my eyes if your site sucks that much, needs attention, or wants recognition based on a skewed reults poll on who has the best blog out there on the web, you DON’T deserve to win, in my opinion, and I’ll gladly vote for another website. To ask for nominations to win and/or enhance the chances of winning is stupid and I personally get joy out of voting for another site because of that. But maybe that’s just me…
