Trip to Philadelphia (part 3 of 3)
The last stop on the trip was to PixelWorthy in downtown Philadelphia. The company is a spin-off of Electronic Ink. The place was pretty cool looking as well with orange walls.
The designers talked to us a bit about their current projects and past projects, namely Decibel Magazine – A Metal/Hard Rock Magazine. It’s pretty cool looking. They told us about the process of making the site from scratch and what designs the company liked and didn’t. Plus, they gave us some insights into what Google does to index your site, how it does it, what’s appropriate in web design nowadays (which is their opinion and will change in a year due the fast-paced web), and some other items of interest.
The company started in March of 2005 and has been in existance for nearly a year. Their studio overlooks Philadelphia’s City Hall and they have a live camera on their site which updates the image every 30 seconds. Overall though, the design team was very enthusiastic to talk to us about the process of designing a website and what they think is good and bad in respect to today’s websites. One of their more strong opinions is death to the words “Skip Intro” and I couldn’t agree more than Flash intros are out!
