XM – Hitting Another Nerve
I’m really tired of XM at this point in time. The repetition on Lucy and other channels has become unbearable. Every time I turn on Lucy, it’s the same song played. I’ve stopped listening to XM and will likely be canceling when Sirius comes out with a true wearable device that allows for live listening when not docked.
The recent channel additions, deletions, and disputes with Clear Channel are absolutely asinine. I have been lied to numerous times and ignored when asked about Clear Channel’s involvement with XM Radio of XM’s staff and idiot VP of Programming, Jon Zellner. It’s not abundantly clear to all that Clear Channel still has a controlling interest in XM so much so that they are putting commercials on their channels and adding new regional talk and news channels. The addition of XM HitList sounds promising, but I seriously doubt it will be anything I’ve been fighting for in the past few years – a REAL hits channel. Not some crap programmed by Kevin Kash (the programming director of KISS-XM, MIX-XM, Nashville, and Sunny-XM) and coincidentally a Clear Channel employee at DC101. He and Jon Zellner are the worst people who work at XM because they are pathological liars when they say “It’s of high interest that DJ’s will be on KISS-XM and we’re looking into it.” First off, you can’t put DJ’s on the channel because XM doesn’t control it and has no jurisdiction over what is done. Secondly, I’d rather you tell the truth to me and be disappointed than lied to. I’m tired of the lies and broken promises from XM.
With the addition of these new channels comes cutting numerous channels, one of which was my favorite, The Torch which was formerly programmed by Salem Communications; those guys did an outstanding job! They were responsive, respectful, and great people. However, XM cut them out of the programming agreement or whatever they had with XM and now Salem Communications no longer programs the channels on XM. One of the worst moves ever because after that, the station became stale. And guess who was programming it at that time? That’s right, XM Radio.
So first, you cut XM Liquid Metal. Then you cut The Torch. Then you bring back Liquid Metal, and this is among other deletions and additions. I’m tired of the games and putting channels online only. This is a satellite radio company. I fail to see where it says “We’re also getting into the business of internet radio.” Simply put…if XM drops the ball and XM Hitlist and Flight 26 suck, it’s the end of the line for me and I will continue to enjoy Sirius as I have the past 6+ months. Except this time, I’ll no longer be a dual subscriber.
