Featured Music: Immortal Technique

This week’s featured music is from a group called Immortal Technique. I can’t choose a song from the albums I have from them, but I’d recommend “Bin Laden” and “The Cause of Death”. Before you download them, keep reading…

The lyrics are powerful, anti-war, and anti-Bush in most cases. The lyrics hold NOTHING back, so if you like uncut music that has a powerful message to portray, you’re probably going to like this. First, “Bin Laden” – the song has a few well-known artists, include Mos Def, Jadakiss, and Eminem. The lyrics basically claim that Bin Laden wasn’t the one who was behind 9/11, but rather it was Bush. It also discusses terrorism and how the whole war is sketchy in that the government tells you some facts, but doesn’t really go into the detail the public wants. It also slams the government/officals for once funding Al-Qaeda and now the blame is being placed on Muslims. It tries to say that the whole war is unjustified and that Fahrenheit 9/11 is just the beginning of it all.

As if that wasn’t enough, it goes into the evil the government does such as how Immortal Technique claims the U.S. sold Saddam chemical weapons after Ronald Reagan’s election. Another powerful lyric is “Cuz innocent people get murdered in the struggle daily / And poor people never get shit and struggle daily”. The whole song ends kind of on an odd note with a voiceover by Eminem claiming that 9/11 was meant to be against Shady Records, and not the twin towers.

Then there’s the “Cause of Death”, another one of the popular songs. It goes into talking about watching your mouth and words or else someone’s going to make your day a living hell. There’s a LOT more to the song, but Bush is also compared to a 7-headed dragon as is Bin Laden. It’s a hard song to describe because the lyrics are so strong.

That being said, I’d highly recommend the “Bin Laden” remixes and Revolutionary Volume 2. All are available on iTunes via the link below.
