XM Hitlist

I spent a good portion of the day listening to XM Hitlist on XM Radio today. I started off very skeptical of the channel simply because XM has never had a true hits channel due to the fact that KISS is run by Clear Channel. So, I went in expecting little from XM. Was I surprised?

Well, sort of. There’s a repetition issue. There’s too much All-American Rejects (which I know Michelle likes). Also, between listening on and off between 10AM and 6PM, I heard Mary J. Blige “Be Without You” 3 times, Wyclef Jean and Shakira “Hips Don’t Lie” 2 times, and Natasha Bedingfield “Unwritten” at least 4 times. To me, that’s too much. There are other songs out there that should be played, such as 3LW’s “No More”. That being said, I did hear Fort Minor, which was a nice surprise since up until this day, Sirius was the only place you’d hear the song.

But one new song won’t make say it’s a great channel. It needs work still (in addition the compression for the channel isn’t wonderful and is sub-par); granted it’s the first day, there should be NO excuse as to why the channel isn’t up to par. XM has had ample time preparing for the channel and should know how to do Hits properly because there was such a void in the channels in regards to Hits. As for right now, I will continue to listen to Sirius until the channel becomes better than Sirius Hits 1. Speaking of which, another example of a song that should be played on XM Hitlist is Matisyahu “King Without a Crown”. Yet, it hasn’t been played on XM.

So for all you people that think Sirius is worse and claim that I’m making a bad move or will find the same thing over at Sirius, you’re just entirely wrong. If you haven’t tried Sirius lately, then you’ve no reason to voice your opinion about the company or what music it plays because you’ve no ground to base your decision on and, personally, I don’t care to hear it.
