Featured Music: Wyclef Jean – President
This is an interesting song to say the least. It’s by Wyclef Jean, who is better know for his role in The Fugees back in the ’90′s. He also did a few albums on his own.
The song is President and it basically talks about how if he, Wyclef Jean, was President, things would change. He wouldn’t spend millions on the war, he’d actively seek a cure for AIDS and cancer, and he’d just in general (from what I gather) make the U.S. a better country and make it take steps forward. One of the interesting lyrics is the chorus: “If I was President / I’d get elected on Friday / Assassinated in Saturday / Buried on Sunday / And go back to work on Monday.”
Chances are you won’t hear on terrestrial radio just because it’s somewhat controversial (as he even mentions himself within the song that you won’t hear it on the radio) and because it’s from 2004 (meaning most radio stations have abandoned their 2004 playlists – one of the reasons I no longer listen to terrestrial radio). Overall though, it’s an interesting idea and the video shows him campaigning around town with the slogan “Seek the Truth – Vote Wyclef for President.” Definitely worth a listen in the least.
You can get it from iTunes, of course.
