XM Online for Macs
In a nasty e-mail that I wrote to XM to vent my anger and frustration toward their service and lack of online support for the Mac platform in regards to listener care, I received the following e-mail back saying that online listener care for the Mac platform will be fixed in mid-July. The reference number is: T2006053101GRS010Z1359202 But seriously, don’t expect it to be fixed since XM enjoys telling lies to get their subscribers to stay subscribers and offering goofy incentives like “3 months free if you decide to cancel” as if they can do a 180 degrees turnaround in 3 months…
So, why am I still complaining? XM’s web development team is INCOMPETENT. Their lack of updates to the site and general disregard for the Mac platform despite this being my fourth request to them (of which I might note that this is the ONLY e-mail they have returned) as well as others’ requests for support is absolutely unprofessional and will cause people to cancel the service due to terrible support, or lack thereof. XM’s listener care page that contains vital information to a user’s account of which includes updating information, radio ID, etc. has locked Mac users out since November 2005. This is a 7 month old issue that XM is NOW finally making an effort to fix. There are NO excuses for this considering they’ve had 7 months to fix it (thus far), and have kept the same generic, uninformative message on their Listener Care site that states something along the lines of “use another browser” or “your browser is not supported.”
Better yet, my browser *IS* supported (Firefox) but you’re refusing to acknowledge the bigger issue that the entire Macintosh platform IS NOT supported. Frankly, I’m tired of it and tired of XM’s shoddy support. Until they can get a real website that is up to 2006 web standards, I’ll continue to be very disappointed in a company that prides itself in technology and revolutions in media. Feel free to respond, or even look at my other post where I blatantly lay out the flaws with XM Satellite Radio and their sub-superioir website.
