The reason I left XM411
There’s a good reason I left XM411, one of the main fan sites for XM Radio. The main reason is because I’m tired of XM’s tactics still and have lost all interest in XM. Once my subscription is up (paid forward back when it was $9.99/month), I’ll be cancelling indefinitely.
But that doesn’t have to do with XM411, really. The reason I left was because of some of the posts there and the lack of staying on topic. Flames are forming left and right and after a short 2 minute visit today, I noticed nothing has changed which is truly disappointing. As an example, user “Jeremy” continually bashes the Mac platform in any post he can and is just a jerk. If you have a valid reason to hate something that’s all well and good but if you have no reason and no support for your argument, you’re a coward. It’s all well and good that he can hide behind a screen name online.
In addition, there are numerous other people there that I don’t care for, also. Until the site users stop bashing Sirius, Macs, and everything else under the sun, I will not be returning. All I ask is that if you whine about something, give support for your opinion.
The DJ Airtimes list will also be abandoned soon, I’m thinking, unless I get support for putting time into it. The few people that use it right now are appreciated but at the current time, I don’t feel the pushback from the community to keep the DJ Airtimes listing updated. It’s truly a sad thing that I put a LOT of work into this project and people come along claiming “it sucks” or “it’s grossly outdated” without providing any information whatsoever to update it.
I’m not entirely sure what to do with the data, but making it open source would be a good idea (even though it already is now – you just need an account on this to update the source code and my persmission). Who knows…
