Today, I released a new version of the 24 Countdown Widget*, inspired by the popular TV show 24
on FOX.

New Interface and redesign.

Is the “Month of Apple Bugs” coming in January ethical or right?

According to news on the web, January 2007 will be Apple’s busiest month fixing bugs for their OS X operating system; the latest publicly released version stands at Tiger, 10.4. A security researcher, who asked only to be identified as “LHM” online claims a new bug will be introduced every day in the month [...]

FOX Monday Night - 24, Prison Break

I’ve been waiting for FOX to get on board with iTunes and finally the day has come!
Today, FOX and iTunes announced that some of their popular shows are available for download online. Among the shows available are 24, Prison Break, Stacked, Unan1mous, and some shows from Fox Television Classics. I’m most excited about [...]

iTunes Concerns

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been exploring the reviews for certain songs on iTunes and in general, I am really frustrated and disappointed. Well over 50% of the reviews on iTunes are from people that sound a bit like this: “OMG!!! THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVAR! BUY IT NOW!!!!!”
Insightful? [...]

Apple Software Updates

Tonight, Apple released two updates for the Mac OS X operating system. The updates are iTunes 6.0.4 and Security Update 2006-001, the first of the year.
I won’t discuss the iTunes update as it’s nothing of importance. But the Security Update 2006-001 is important for all users. It patches the trojan that allows [...]

Malware OS X Part 2

Before anyone blows this one out of proportion calling it a virus, worm, trojan, whatever, get the facts straight.
Now that’s out of the way, Secunia has issued a severe alert about malicious .zip files. These files pose as a JPEG, MOVs, etc and Finder’s “Get Info” marks them as a “Terminal Document”, and when [...]

Leap-A Removal - Bye_Leap-A Application

Tonight, I released an Automator script that will remove the Leap-A trojan/malware. It removes the /apphook/ directory in the ~/Library/InputManagers/ directory, removes the malicious file latestpics.tgz in the /tmp/ directory, and makes the permissions stronger on the ~/Library/InputManagers/ folder.
Thanks to Macworld.com for the removal process. Download the file @ versiontracker.com or macupdate.com. [...]

OS X Malware

Today, there’s a lot of buzz about the new trojan that’s propagating for OS X. It’s called Leap-A. To me, it’s not a big concern and doesn’t really show the vulnerability of OS X. From what I’ve read, it does prompt the user for authentication, so it’s not like it’s installed through [...]

Apple vs. The Postal Service

I love it when tiny groups of people try to take control and publicly flame a larger company in hopes of getting compensation and/or getting their way.
For example, BellSouth wants Google to pay for preferential treatment on their network. Stupid, right? Well this time, it’s the musical group The Postal Service (who I [...]
